| HERE WE GO!!!!! AGAIN!!! If you dont hear the sound of boots locked in step yet you will. Probably have to get a permit to use a butter knife soon. Only thing that stopped this last time was the Senate coup. I dont believe Republicans can kill these in committee any more; which was why the coup was so timely last go round. BOHICA!!!! NOVEMBER wont come soon enough link at bottom to read bills Laundry List of Anti-Gun Bills Introduced in the Empire State Friday, February 26, 2010 Please contact your lawmakers and urge them to oppose the laundry list of anti-gun bills pending consideration in Albany prior to the Assembly’s annual “gun day.” The package includes the following bills: Assembly Bill 801A and its Senate companion, S 1598A, would require five-year renewals on pistol licenses. Assembly Bill 1093 and its Senate companion, S 1715, would create liability for legal firearm retailers when criminals misuse firearms. Assembly Bill 1275 and its Senate companion, S 1712, would outlaw the private sale and transfer of long guns. Assembly Bill 1326 and its Senate companion, S 5228, would outlaw the sale of all handguns not equipped with so-called "child proofing" devices. Assembly Bill 2881 and its Senate companion, S 2379, would ban the sale of common self-defense and hunting ammunition. Assembly Bill 2884 would prohibit gun shows on public property. Assembly Bill 2885 and Assembly Bill 2910 would establish standards for guns sold in the state and would allow the state police to prevent ANY firearm they deem unsafe from being transferred into the state. Assembly Bill 3200 and its Senate companion, S 2953, would require ammunition coding or bullet serialization. Assembly Bill 3346 would outlaw affordable handguns commonly used for self-defense. Assembly Bill 3477 and its Senate companion, S 1188, would expand the failed 10-year-old ballistic imaging program to include even more firearms. Assembly Bill 4441 and its Senate companion, S 4338, would prohibit the manufacture, sale or transfer of handguns not equipped with so-called "smart gun" technology. Assembly Bill 5844 and its Senate companion, S 3098, would prohibit keeping firearms available for self-defense in the home. Assembly Bill 6157 and Assembly Bill 6294 and their Senate companion, S 4084, would drastically expand the state's ban on so-called "assault weapons" to include virtually all semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can accept detachable magazines. Assembly Bill 6468B and its Senate companion, S 6005, would outlaw the sale of all semi-automatic handguns not equipped with so-called "microstamping" technology. Senate Bill 4752 would ban certain firearms based upon bore diameter. As the anti-gun agenda awaits activity, a few other measures deserve our support. They include Assembly Bill 5118A and its Senate companion, S 2430A, which would grant a tax exemption to conservation clubs and rod and gun clubs owning land having an assessed value of $500,000 or less. These bills are in the Assembly Real Property Tax Committee and the Senate Local Government Committee respectively. NRA-ILA also supports Assembly Bill 7463A and its Senate Companion, S 3299A, which would expand hunting opportunities by allowing the use of a rifle to hunt deer or bear in certain parts of Chautauqua County. These bills are pending in the Assembly and Senate Environment Committees, respectively. http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?id=5487 | |

| New York: Micro-stamping Legislation on the Move in Albany! Friday, April 30, 2010 New activity on Assembly Bill 6468C, sponsored by State Assemblywomen Michelle Schimel (D-16) and Senate Bill 6005, sponsored by State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31), suggests that lawmakers are getting ready to make a move on micro-stamping legislation. Both A6468C and S6005 require that semiautomatic pistols manufactured or delivered to any licensed dealer in the state of New York be capable of micro-stamping ammunition and establish fines for violations of this requirement.
Micro-stamping is an unproven technology that would require unique identifying information from the firearm, including the make, model, and serial number to be etched into the firing pin and breech face in such a manner that those identifiers are imprinted on the cartridge case upon firing. The technology can easily be defeated with common household tools, has no public safety value, and adds substantially to the cost of the firearm. If passed, the availability of semi-automatic handguns in New York could be in jeopardy, as manufacturers simply may choose not to build or sell firearms for purchase in the state. In fact, this bill would likely create a de facto ban on new semi-automatic handguns, as manufacturers from other states may not change their entire production processes just to comply with New York, the only state with such a law on the books. A 6468C/S 6005 could entirely shut down the market for new handguns in this state.
This activity comes just days after the anti-gunners in New York held their annual anti-gun lobby day in Albany. This also means that lawmakers could be gearing up to pass their whole anti-gun agenda. Please take the time to contact your lawmakers and ask their position on A6468C and S6005 and request that they oppose the laundry list of anti-gun bills currently pending in the Assembly.

| Micro-Stamping Bill Heads to Senate Floor in New York! Tuesday, June 08, 2010 Please Contact Your State Senator Today!
Senate Bill 6005 passed the Senate Codes Committee today, Tuesday, June 8 and could be brought up on the Senate Floor as early as Thursday. It’s companion in the Assembly, Assembly Bill 6468C, has already passed.
In fact, this bill would likely create a de facto ban on new semi-automatic handguns.
If allowed to become law, this bill will serve as a ban on all new semiautomatic handguns in the Empire State! It is imperative that you contact members of the New York State Senate and respectfully ask that they protect our Second Amendment rights by opposing S6005.

| Senate Gun Control Bill Could Ban All Semi-Automatic Handguns in New York! Friday, June 11, 2010 The New York State Senate is currently considering legislation, which would ban the sale of virtually all semi-automatic handguns in the state. Since the Senate could vote on this bill at any time, it is critical that you call your state Senator immediately and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 6005.
This bill (S 6005) would require all semi-automatic handguns delivered to any licensed firearms dealer in New York to mechanically stamp certain information about the firearm (such as the make, model and serial number) into the cartridge case when the gun is discharged. This bill does not exempt models currently available, making all of these guns illegal for sale in New York unless they are redesigned by their manufacturers, which would vastly increase the cost of these firearms. Its Assembly counterpart, Assembly Bill 6468C, has already passed and the State Senate is our last opportunity to defeat this bill.
Micro-stamping is an unproven technology that is easily defeated with common household tools and the replacement of a few small parts. It has no public safety value, adds substantially to the cost of the firearm and potentially puts other gun owners at risk of prosecution since criminals will no doubt collect fired brass from shooting ranges to leave at crime scenes. If passed, the availability of semi-automatic handguns in New York will be in serious doubt, as manufacturers simply may choose not to build or sell firearms for purchase in the state. Of course, that is the ultimate goal of this legislation. Make no mistake, this is a gun ban and it must be stopped.
It is imperative that you stand-up and make your voice heard in opposition to this attack on our rights. Please contact your State Senator, IMMEDIATELY at 518-455-2800 and respectfully urge them to oppose S 6005

| Attention New York State Gun Owners: Make Your Voice Heard Loudly in Opposition to S6005, the Micro-Stamping Bill! Tuesday, June 15, 2010 Please Contact Your State Senator Today!
Senate Bill 6005 has been temporarily set aside in the Senate while both parties try and figure out where the votes are. Since the Senate could vote on this bill at any time today, it is critical that you call your State Senator immediately and urge them to OPPOSE S6005.
Misguided mayors, led by Mayor Bloomberg and other members of his “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” (MAIG) coalition, held a media blitz today in Albany in order to pressure lawmakers into passing S6005. These radical gun control zealots will stop at nothing to enact this ill-conceived legislation that will result in a ban on new and used semi-automatic handguns.
This bill would require all semi-automatic handguns delivered to any licensed firearms dealer in New York to mechanically stamp certain information about the firearm (such as the make, model and serial number) onto the cartridge case when the gun is discharged. This bill does not exempt models currently available, making all of these guns illegal for sale in New York unless they are redesigned by their manufacturers, which would vastly increase the cost of these firearms. | Micro-Stamping Bill Dealt a Blow in the Empire State Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Please Continue to Make Your Voices Heard! In voting against S6005 yesterday, many lawmakers in the New York State Senate exercised common sense and acted according to the will of their constituents. S6005 would require all semi-automatic handguns delivered to any licensed firearms dealer in New York to mechanically stamp certain information about the firearm (such as the make, model and serial number) onto the cartridge case when the gun is discharged. This bill does not exempt models currently available, making all of these guns illegal for sale in New York unless they are redesigned by their manufacturers, which would vastly increase the cost of these firearms. Micro-stamping is an unproven technology that is easily defeated with common household tools and the replacement of a few small parts. Of course, that is the ultimate goal of this legislation. Make no mistake, this is a gun ban and it must be stopped. S6005 was brought to the floor late yesterday and supporters of micro-stamping failed to garner the 32 votes necessary to pass the bill, coming up two short. As they came to the end of the roll call, leaders asked for the bill to be "laid aside," which means that it is still a threat. While yesterday's vote was important, supporters of micro-stamping have vowed to see the bill become law. We urge NRA members to contact the following Senators and thank them for their careful consideration of this issue and to urge them for their continued opposition to S6005: Name District Party Phone Email State Senator Kenneth LaValle 1 R 518-455-3121 lavalle@senate.state.ny.us State Senator John Flanagan 2 R 518-455-2071 flanagan@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Owen Johnson 4 R 518-455-3411 ojohnson@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Carl Marcellino 5 R 518-455-2390 marcelli@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Kemp Hannon 6 R 518-455-2200 hannon@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Charles Fuschillo, Jr. 8 R 518-455-3341 fuschill@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Dean Skelos 9 R 518-455-3171 skelos@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Andrew Lanza 24 R 518-455-3215 lanza@senate.state.ny.us State Senator William Larkin 39 R 518-455-2770 larkin@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Vincent Leibell 40 R 518-455-3111 leibell@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Stephen Saland 41 R 518-455-2411 saland@senate.state.ny.us State Senator John Bonacic 42 R 518-455-3181 bonacic@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Roy McDonald 43 R 518-455-2381 mcdonald@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Hugh Farley 44 R 518-455-2181 farley@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Elizabeth Little 45 R 518-455-2811 little@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Joseph Griffo 47 R 518-455-3334 griffo@senate.state.ny.us State Senator John DeFrancisco 50 R 518-455-3511 jdefranc@senate.state.ny.us State Senator James Seward 51 R 518-455-3131 seward@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Thomas Libous 52 R 518-455-2677 senator@senatorlibous.com State Senator George Winner, Jr. 53 R 518-455-2091 winner@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Michael Nozzolio 54 R 518-455-2366 nozzolio@senate.state.ny.us State Senator James Alesi 55 R 518-455-2015 alesi@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Joseph Robach 56 R 518-455-2909 robach@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Catharine Young 57 R 518-455-3563 cyoung@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Dale Volker 59 R 518-455-3471 volker@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer 61 R 518-455-3161 ranz@senate.state.ny.us State Senator George Maziarz 62 R 518-455-2024 maziarz@senate.state.ny.us State Senator Darrel Aubertine 48 D 518-455-2761 aubertin@senate.state.ny.us State Senator David Valesky 49 D 518-455-2838 valesky@senate.state.ny.us State Senator William Stachowski 58 D 518-455-2426 stachows@senate.state.ny.us

| S 6005 was brought to the floor on Tuesday and supporters of micro-stamping failed to garner the 32 votes necessary to pass the bill, coming up two short. As they came to the end of the roll call, leaders asked for the bill to be "laid aside," and then later expunged the bi-partisan vote from the record as though it had never taken place. In what can only be viewed as an unethical, childish maneuver, State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31) and proponents of S 6005 are working to switch some votes and bring the bill back to the Floor for another chance at final passage. Constituents should be outraged if another vote is allowed to take place, as this means that making your voice heard means nothing to the leadership in charge of the State Senate in Albany! Every New York NRA member needs to contact Senator Schneiderman, who in addition to being the sponsor of S 6005, is a candidate for Attorney General of the State of New York. Please politely let him know that if he and his leadership allow a "do-over" on the micro-stamping vote that he should not be trusted as the state's top advocate for your rights. State Senator Eric Schneiderman can be reached at 518-455-2041 and schneide@senate.state.ny.us. | |
